Forma Migratoria Multiple (FMM)
You must obtain the Forma Migratoria Multiple (Fmm) to enter Mexico. Then, all you have to do is fill out the online application form and pay fees. Therefore, you can save time by applying for the Mexico visa requirements, such as the FMM online.
An FMM is a legal requirement for entry into Mexico and is separate from a tourist visa. It establishes the lawful presence of a foreigner in Mexico and states the number of days he is permitted to stay in the country. The FMM is separate from the traveler’s passport. It consists of two parts, one for air travel and another for land travel. During your stay in Mexico, you must present your FMM to check in with border officials. The FMM is valid 180 days from the entry date, but you will need a valid passport to visit other countries.
When entering Mexico, an immigration officer will provide you with a part of the FMM or tourist card. Hold on to it until you leave the country. If your FMM is lost or stolen, don’t panic! Temporary Resident Visa
A Temporary Resident Visa is suitable for six months to four years. Depending on your visa category, you can stay in Mexico for these periods. The Temporary Resident Visa is granted to foreign nationals who want to stay in Mexico for more than 180 days. A Mexico Work Visa allows the bearer to reside and work lawfully in Mexico for up to four years in addition to a Mexico Work Permit.
You must apply for a Temporary Residence Card within 30 days of landing in Mexico with a Temporary Resident Visa. You may obtain your Residence Card from a National Immigration Institute office in Mexico.
Permanent Resident Visa
A Permanent Resident Visa is designed for ex-pats who intend to permanently live and work in Mexico. It allows them to engage in legal and economic activity in the country. They must always carry a Permanent Resident card with them and keep one at home. It also requires that they notify the INM of any changes in their address, nationality, or marital status within 90 days of the change.
The perks of having a Permanent Resident Visa are plentiful. It allows you to travel freely around Mexico, but some limitations exist. For example, you cannot vote or own land within 50 kilometers of a beach or land border, but you can get a trust for this purpose. In addition, permanent residents cannot drive foreign-plated vehicles and must uphold the same responsibilities as Mexican citizens.
Getting a residency visa in Mexico is easy and inexpensive. First, you must prove that you have sufficient funds to cover the cost of living in Mexico and pass an immigration interview. There are two types of residency visas: temporary and permanent. Both require different age requirements and income levels. If you plan to live in Mexico for more than four years, you must apply for a Permanent Resident Visa.
